# What you'll need:

→ Cream Layer

01 - 8 oz cream cheese, softened
02 - 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
03 - 1 cup powdered sugar
04 - 2 packages (3.4 oz each) instant vanilla pudding mix
05 - 3 cups cold whole milk
06 - 12 oz whipped topping, thawed

→ Cookie Layer

07 - 1 family size package (14.3 oz) chocolate sandwich cookies

→ Decorations

08 - 1 1/2 cups gummy worms
09 - 1/2 cup pastel-colored candy-coated chocolate eggs
10 - 1/4 cup shredded coconut, dyed green

# Method:

01 - Crush the chocolate sandwich cookies in a food processor until they resemble fine crumbs. Set aside for layering.
02 - In a large mixing bowl, beat cream cheese and butter together until smooth and fluffy. Add powdered sugar and mix until fully combined.
03 - In a separate bowl, whisk together the instant vanilla pudding mixes and cold milk. Let stand for 2 minutes until thickened.
04 - Fold the pudding mixture into the cream cheese mixture until smooth. Gently fold in the whipped topping until fully incorporated.
05 - In a 9x13-inch casserole dish, spread half the cookie crumbs evenly across the bottom.
06 - Spoon the cream filling mixture over the cookie layer and spread into an even layer using a spatula.
07 - Sprinkle the remaining cookie crumbs over the cream layer to create a uniform dirt appearance.
08 - Arrange gummy worms partially buried in the crumbs. Add candy eggs and sprinkle with green-dyed coconut. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.

# Expert advice:

01 -
  • It transforms a childhood party classic into something that feels special and celebratory for spring gatherings
  • The no bake approach means your oven stays free for the ham and your stress level stays remarkably low
02 -
  • Letting your cream cheese and butter come to room temperature is non negotiable unless you want little lumps throughout your otherwise perfect cream layer
  • The cookie layer needs to be thicker than you think on the bottom because the first spoonful is always the messiest and most anticipated
03 -
  • Dye your coconut by tossing it with food coloring in a zip top bag instead of a bowl to keep your counters from looking like a crime scene
  • Aim for more worms poking out than seems necessary because they settle into the cream layer during chilling
