# Expert advice:

01 -
  • Fresh ripe strawberries make this taste completely different from anything you would get at a drive through.
  • It requires exactly one appliance and zero cooking skills, which means anyone can pull it off beautifully.
  • The balance of creamy and fruity is so satisfying that you will start keeping strawberries on hand just for this.
02 -
  • Blending too long actually warms the shake because the motor heats the mixture, so stop as soon as everything looks smooth.
  • If your strawberries are not very sweet, the sugar stops being optional and starts being essential for a balanced flavor.
  • Frozen strawberries work in a pinch but they change the texture to something closer to a soft serve than a traditional milkshake.
03 -
  • Chill your glasses in the freezer for ten minutes before pouring because a cold glass keeps the milkshake thick longer.
  • Hull the strawberries the night before and keep them in the fridge so you can make this on impulse without any prep work.
